- Consider our natural, handcrafted, stoneware ceramic set of three Bloomingville bowls with a distinctive pattern on each item. They are food approved, dishwasher safe and microwave proof.
- Our lovely new Bea stoneware serving plate is also handcrafted. The flower pattern is different on every crackle-glazed platter. This type of ceramic glaze is fired at a low temperature to create a crack pattern that imparts an earthy character.
-
You will love our plain grey stoneware pasta plates and basins. The dark, shiny glaze provides the collection with an unusual style and feel. The exquisite blue Naomi ceramic stoneware range offers patterned bowls and mugs as well as a milk jug. This handcrafted set is oven-, microwave- and dishwasher safe and food approved.
Consider our original, ornate, hand-wrought, finely detailed aluminium and brass trays. Decorate your home or use it to serve drinks or canapés when entertaining guests.
A History of the Butter Dish
Crafters created silver butter holders that looked like scallop shells with two or three plain ball feet in the early 18th century.
- Small, covered, round dishes have been used on the dining table to hold the traditional handmade spiralled butter shape since 1880. It included an ice chamber to keep the butter cold. Even today, the clay French butter dish has a base that holds water to keep the butter in the separate container cool.
- Butter crocks, bells or keepers come in several styles, shapes and sizes. They are made to contain individual scrolls, pats, sticks, or bricks of butter and comprise various materials such as ceramic, silver, china, or crystal. Some have a cover, and others do not.
-
Our beautifully decorated stoneware Jules butter box by Bloomingville is hand-painted in Portugal. Each one is unique due to colour variations and differing crackle effects.
-
Discover our modern Scandinavian sugar bowls online. They serve the same purpose as those incorporated in the tea sets that became part of British and other Western cultures in the mid-17th century.
Contemplate our stoneware Camellia sugar bowl with its detailed white pattern painted on a blue background. It comes with a tiny spoon that fits into the hole in the lid perfectly. A bamboo spoon accompanies our porcelain Camellia sugar bowl with a milk jug.
